BTAR Disclosure Requirements
- Question
-
When does it become compulsory for banks to report the BTAR? When will the specifics on BTAR disclosure be published (i.e., what can be counted into BTAR etc.)?
- Background on the question
-
We would like to understand the specific disclosure requirements under EBA's Binding Standards on Pillar 3 disclosures: We understand that BTAR can be reported starting June 2024. However, it is unclear when it becomes compulsory to disclose the BTAR? (i.e., is the disclosure starting June 2024 voluntary as we understand it, and if so, when is a compulsory disclosure planned?) Furthermore, what is the timeline as to specifying the specific BTAR requirements? (i.e., what must be reported under BTAR, what can be reported under BTAR?)

This question has been rejected because the issue it deals with is already explained in paragraph 2 of Article 18a of Regulation (EU) 2021/637 and in Annex XL of the same Regulation. The voluntary nature of Template 9 under Annex XXXIX is defined in Paragraph 2 of Article 18a. The first possible reference date for this template is defined in Annex XL of the same Regulation, under the second paragraph for Template 9 as the following: 'The first disclosure reference date of this template is as of 31 December 2024. Institutions are not required to disclose this information before 1 January 2025.'
